Disable WhatsApp Blue Ticks for Read Messages
It seems that WhatsApp is playing a good game with their user's feelings. Each time WhatsApp updates something it brings many problems in the relationship. This has been started with the settings that allows the users to disable the Last Seen or Status. Then many small updates came and then the recent updates, which allows the user to know that their messages have been read, with the double grey ticks appearing in front of the messages turning blue. This has already created many problems in the relationship, as read on other sites and news.
But now i think that the WhatsApp had started to feel the consequences that the users are facing. Therefore they came up with an update that allows the users to disable the WhatsApp Blue tick for Read messages. This feature will soon be available for all the WhatsApp users, once the WhatsApp starts rolling out the updated version of WhatsApp viz., 2.11.444 or above. This version is available for users on WhatsApp's website for now, and will eventually be rolled out to all users.

But if you dont want to wait till the update, here's what you can do. Just follow the steps below and update the WhatsApp manually. Here's how you can disable the blue coloured read receipts' with the message timestamp on WhatsApp's Android app:
1. Make sure that your smartphone is running on Android 2.1 or a newer version.
2. Go to settings menu and enable 'Download from Unknown Sources' in the Security tab
3. Go to the WhatsApp website and download the APK (application) file available under www.whatsapp.com/Android/
4. Once the APK file is downloaded to your device, tap the 'Install' option.
6. Now that WhatsApp has been updated, select Settings > Account > Privacy. Under the Privacy tab, uncheck the Read Receipts option.

But to let you know that, this service wont be available for group messages. Other participates in the group will know when the message was read. So now you can opt to exit from the group or delete the group. Also, just like, if you disable the LastSeen, you wont be able to see others LastSeen too. Similarly, once you disable this feature, you won't be able to view blue double-check marks when you send a message as well. That's fair enough.

- having a sound as the status (your own sound or song)
