Samsung has launched the Galaxy Note 4 at its pre-IFA 2014 event, Samsung Unpacked 2014 Episode 2. Samsung also launched a unique smartphone with a side display called the Galaxy Note Edge. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes with the new S Pen stylus with improved pressure sensitivity, as well as the new Smart Select feature, apart from the new calligraphy and signing pen writing options.

The Galaxy Note 4 comes with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display of Quad HD (2560x1440) resolution for ultra-sharp visuals, so you can watch videos, browse the web, or play games with amazing clarity. The device also comes with Samsung's S Pen stylus, which lets you be creative and increase your productivity with features like handwriting support, Scrapbook, and Easy Clip.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Note 4 is powered by an octa-core Exynos 5433 processor clocked at 1.9GHz. With support for enabling all eight processor cores at once, you can expect blazing fast performance no matter what you use the device for, and also enjoy effortless multitasking with 3GB of RAM. For installing apps and storing pictures, videos and other media, users get 32/64GB of internal storage that is further expandable by 128GB via a microSD slot.

Imaging is taken care of by a 16-megapixel camera with the Sony IMX240 sensor on the back, which takes quality high-resolution snaps and offers features like HDR Rich Tone, Fast Autofocus, and Selective Focus. The Side Touch feature lets you take quick photos simply by tapping on the edge of the device. A 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera offers the ability to make video calls, and the Wide Selfie feature will let you fit more people in your selfies.

The Galaxy Note 4 comes with a plethora of connectivity features. Support for 4G LTE and the Download Booster feature let you download data in a flash by combining Wi-Fi and mobile data networks, while the inbuilt infrared port can be used to control televisions and set-top boxes. Other connectivity options include 3G (HSPA+ 42.2Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC; a microUSB 3.0 port enables lightning quick file transfers to and from a PC.

Security is also top-notch on the fourth-generation Galaxy Note, thanks to a fingerprint sensor embedded on the front of the device. The fingerprint sensor lets users unlock the phone with a simple swipe, make quick payments on PayPal and other merchants, sign into websites, and access private files and folders. A heart rate sensor on the back lets you monitor your heart rate right on the device, and the pre-loaded S Health app makes sure you never skip a beat in your daily fitness routines.

On the software front, the Galaxy Note 4 is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung's TouchWiz UX. Users have the option to select from more than 800,000 apps on Google Play, and run multiple apps at the same time with the Multi Window feature. My Magazine puts all your news, social media feeds and other curated content on the homescreen, and features like Air Command, Direct Pen Input, and S Note let you draw, input text, and make notes on the go with the S Pen stylus.
