Samsung Galaxy Note Edge With Side Display Launched at Rs. 64,900
Samsung are taking the curve thing very seriously. They are taking the electronics to the curved level. Samsung has already introduced the curved wearables, curved televisions and now they came up with the smartphone which is curved too. Samsung, the Korean handset making giant, has launched its Galaxy Note Edge that is the latest in the tablet market. Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has been launched in India and will be available ion first week of January. The comapny has quoted the massive price of Rs. 64,900.
The more you think about it, the more ironic it becomes that the standout feature in the Galaxy Note Edge is actually its curve rather than any straight, sharp line. The Galaxy Note Edge uses Samsung's flexible-display technology. While the main screen remains flat like previous phones, the right edge extends and curves until it reaches the back. That creates a side display so information such as weather and time can be seen from the side when the phone is laid on a table - such as a nightstand next to the bed.
The screen is made from one continuous piece of glass that tops the flexible (but fixed) AMOLED display beneath. Instead of having a straight right spine, the curve joins the back of the phone, creating a kind of pointy edge. With the side display, the Galaxy Note Edge's camera functions more like a stand-alone, point-and-shoot camera, as the shutter button and other functions appear on top when the phone is held horizontally.
Talking about the specification, Samsung Galaxy Note Edge running on Android 4.4. KitKat features a 5.6-inch Quad-HD+ (1440+160x2560 pixel) Super AMOLED display, and is powered by a quad-core 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 processor coupled with Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The is available with 32 GB of storage and the latter edition will be availale in 64GB which is expandable upto 128GB.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge sports a 16MP auto focus rear camera which can shoot 2,160p videos at 30fps and 1080p videos at 60fps. It supports LED flash, optical image stabilization, HDR, panorama, dual shot, smile and face detection, image and video recording simultaneously, dual shot and touch focus. The 3.7MP front shooter claims to shoot 1080p videos at 30fps as well.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is fuelled by a mighty 3,000mAh Li-ion battery and can be connected via 3G, 4G (only in selected countries), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS, GLONASS, USB port, NFC, infrared port, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot and Wi-Fi Direct.
The specs seems a bit closer to Galaxy Note 4. Thought the price is higher than Note 4. Will try to compare both the flagship phones soon.
Cheers!!!
