Destroy Your Sent Email Whenever You Want, Even After A Year
Gmail always keeps updating its features na dadds various options to it. Recently, Gmail came up with the Undo button, using which you can undo the mail sent. It also came up with the time duration (30 sec) in which you can undo it. This time Gmail has an new extension known as Dmail. This is created by Delicious and its tagline describes what is the use of it, "Finally sent email has a delete button".
Many time you send some important message in you email to someone. Though the person is near and dear one, but if it gets hacked, you can be also in trouble. Many times we do send our bank details in email and that can also be the data which you don't want to be in anyone's hand.
Dmail is well aware that the concept of re-tracking one’s email isn’t new and has therefore introduced its self-destruct feature, which needs to be installed by the user from the Google Web Browser Extension and for the first time allows you to destroy a sent email whenever you want to. The Dmail button can also be controlled by you with the help of a toggle switch.
How it works:
Once you install the extension, it will be added in the Extensions. Make sure to turn it On. Now open Gmail and click on the Compose button. You will see the screen like below;
Just add all you details and message , make sure that the Dmail button is ON and you have selected the Destroyer time. The Destroyer options given are ‘an hour’ to a day, week or never.
And even if you choose the never option you can go back and click on the revoke email button which removes access to that email from all recipients.
What is different about Dmail is that the recipient doesn’t need to be a user of the service in order to access the email. In case one is not a Dmail user and receives a Dmail encrypted mail, you will receive a message that says “This secure message was sent using Dmail. To view this message, simply click the button below.” This will direct the viewer to a web view where they can read the email.
Currently, the feature is available online for all Gmail users, but not for smartphone users. Hence, the company is looking to expand their business by making this feature accessible to iOS devices in August followed by Android devices.
Install the Dmail extension
Cheers!!!
