WhatsApp New Update Lets You Mark Messages as 'Unread' & Some More New Updates
Few days back WhatsApp was updated with the much talked "Calling" update. Many updates has been seen on WhatsApp. Right from new features to new interface. WhatsApp released a new refreshed design which employed minimalistic design and borrowed some features from Android’s Material UI back in May. Now its again time for another update. WhatsApp is soon going to add "Mark as Unread" feature.
The recent updates are aimed at minor details as well and the team has been busy for the past day releasing five successive updates, fixing bugs and introducing new options from v2.12.189 to v2.12.194, which is the latest one.
First in the series of the new additions is the "mark as unread" option. This new option allows users to mark conversations on WhatsApp as unread. Although it does not change the original read status of the message, it makes it easy to let you view any of your important conversation.
How does this works:
You just need to tap and hold a conversation in Chats tab and select "mark as unread" option from the popup menu. Once selected, it flags the conversation with a green circle to let you easily spot it from many other other conversations.
Second major update to WhatsApp is probably the depth of customization in the Notifications area. This brings notification for each contact. This means that you can now customize notification settings for each of your contact on the instant messaging service. Select any user's contact info or group details page and you will notice a new "Notifications" box.
It lets you "Mute'"a specific chat for 8 hours, a week or even a year (I will suggest not to do that, it will hurt someone very badly :p). The custom notifications section lets you personalize notifications which will let you select a ringtone, the length of the vibration, a notification light if any and if you want, popup notifications or not.
Third WhatsApp update will be an option for users to restrict "low data usage" for WhatsApp voice calling. This is something that needs to be added long time back. This will definately help users who are using low data usage plan or a limited one. Because, as we know that WhatsApp calling feature eats your data like (myself eating sweets) anything. You will be able to select this option under settings and then Chats and Call.
You can get all this feature in the latest WhatsApp update which is, Version 2.12.194. Just click here.
Another interesting update is having "Like" button. I am not very much sure about this update. But since "Like" button is already a facet of Facebook, it will or might be implemented sooner or later. It will be appear for the messages such as Messenger's 'read message' tick. But its still not confirmed, but can be a part of future.
I don't know what all this update will lead to. Already, some of the features on WhatsApp are killing relationship, making people behave crazy. People have started taking all this features to another level. Now what does this new features brings with them, its all up in your hands.
Cheers!!!
