Samsung Galaxy Note 7 With Iris Scanner Launched in India at Rs 59,900

Samsung has launched its flagship phablet Galaxy Note 7 in India priced at Rs 59,900. The handset will be available on e-commerce websites starting September 2. The South Korean tech giant introduced the Galaxy Note 7 at Galaxy Unpacked event in New York earlier this month. It will come in Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx colour variants. There's also a Blue Coral variant which will not be available in India. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 comes bundled with free Reliance Jio 4G SIM with three months of 4G data free. The smartphone is already available on pre-order in the US.

The handset runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD dual-edge SuperAmoled display of 1440x2560 pixel resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Confirming endless prior leaks and rumours, the Note 7 includes both an iris scanner and a fingerprint sensor. In India, the device comes with an octa-core Exynos processor clubbed with 4GB RAM.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 houses 64GB of in-built storage which can be further expanded by microSD cards of up to 256GB capacity. Users will also receive 15GB of free cloud storage on Samsung Cloud. For imaging duties, the premium phablet has a 12MP dual-pixel rear-camera with Optical Image Stabilization, along with a 5MP front-facing shooter.

The device comes with almost every possible connectivity feature, including 4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C. There's also a whole array of sensors on-board, including barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, proximity sensor and RGB light sensor. Backed by a 3,500mAh battery, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 also sports fast-charging technology. It weighs 169 gram and measures 153.5mmx73.9mmx7.9mm in dimensions.

The Galaxy Note 7 comes with the company's Knox software clubbed with biometric authentication and iris scanning feature for enhanced security. In addition, the smartphone has a feature called 'Secure Folder,' which is a folder that can be used to keep confidential documents locked using biometrics.

The S Pen, as Samsung calls the stylus in Galaxy Note smartphones, is now claimed to be more precise with 0.7mm diameter tip. According to Samsung, "With the peace of mind that IP68 water resistant provides, the Galaxy Note 7 S Pen lets users jot down their thoughts without interruption, even when the screen gets wet," said the company at the time of its global launch.

The Pen also lets users create and share GIF animations with Smart Select option. There are new Air Command functions as well including Magnify and Translate functionality. The Air Commands can also enable users to zoom in on the screen or convert languages with a simple hover of the S Pen. Using the stylus Pen, users also have easy access to Samsung Notes, a new unified app to write notes, draw, or edit memos. The device can translate in 11 India languages.

Cheers!!!
