Samsung Pay Now in India: How to Use it & All You Need to Know

Samsung's mobile payment platform Samsung Pay is in India. The company's Apple Pay rival has reached Indian shores with a slew of bank tie-ups. India is the 12th country in the world to get Samsung Pay, others include South Korea, the US, China, Spain, Singapore, Australia, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Russia, Thailand and Malaysia. The platform gives Samsung smartphone users another digital mode to pay for their goods and services.

What is it?
It is a mobile payment platform similar to Apple Pay. Samsung smartphone users can use it to pay for goods and services, the way they use their credit cards and other payment apps.

Comes integrated with Paytm
Samsung Pay comes with e-payment app Paytm integrated. To get Paytm enabled, users need to add Paytm through Wallet option. Then link it with your registered phone number.

Supports UPI
Samsung Pay supports the government's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment system into its app.

How is authentication done
The authentication on Samsung Pay is done via fingerprint or four-digit pin entered. According to Samsung, the platform offers three levels of security: biometric, card tokenisation and the company's in-house Knox security platform.

Supports both NFC and MST
Samsung Pay works with Samsung's patented Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology as well as with Near Field Communication (NFC). Through MST, merchants can accept payments on regular card machines. This means that Samsung Pay will also work on machines that don't support NFC.

For those wondering how to install Samsung Pay, here's a step-by-step guide
