Root Nokia X & Install Google Play Store
Since long I am thinking to root my Moto Defy. I will be doing it soon after talking all my backups and data. Recently launched Nokia X is very much in news. We have already gone through the details in our post. You all know that Nokia has its own app store, "Nokia Store" for installing apps.
The Nokia X comes with jelly Bean edition. Therefore, many cahnges were made, like, removed Google Services and Play Store. So now you wont be able to install any app from Google Play Store. But now it is possible. You can install Play Store and apps in your Nokia X Edition.
All you have to do is to get root access, then download Gapps and move it to the system folder using a root explorer app, set permissions and install Play Store app and other few apps.
Note: Please take all your backup and then proceed with the rooting. If you don't have any knowledge about rooting, please don't do it on yourself. Make sure, you are accompanied with someone who has the rooting knowledge. MyBookOfKnowledge will not be responsible for any damage or loss of the phone, in any may.
Lets start rooting your Nokia X:
1. Download Framaroot app to your PC and then transfer it to the root of your SD card. (download from here.
2. Now, go to Settings – Security and scroll down and enable “Unknown Sources” to allow installation of non-market apps.
3. Install the Framaroot.apk and then open it from the app drawer.
4. Select Install SuperFun from the drop-down list and then select the ‘Gandalf’ root exploit from the list.
5. After the exploit is successfully completed, it will prompt for a reboot.
Installing Play Store & other Nokia apps:
1. First thing will be download (NokiaX_Gapps_KashaMalaga_28.02.2014.zip)
2. Now, extract the zip file and copy all the APK Files to system/apps folder using any root file explorer app and change the permissions to rw-r-r-..
3. Now, reboot your device, and then install every single needed apk included in “NokiaX_SomeGoogleApps.zip” as a normal APK file.
4. Once the Google Play Store app installed, run it and if it asks for your Google Account, then it means everything went better than expected (source)
Once you done with the installation, restart your phone and open Google Account. It will ask you to add Google+ password, just add it.
Thanks to XDA Developer, for the above help.
Let me know your comments of any.
Cheers!!!
