Google Announced Andorid Lollipop, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 & Nexus Player

We have heard a lot related to Googles's next major Android iteration named Android L, which is actually Android Lollipop. We will talk about more about it in some other post. But just give you a highlight, Android L is a bold, colorful, and responsive UI design for consistent, intuitive experiences across all your devices.

Talking about the notification, it has a new ways to control when and how you receive messages. View and respond to messages directly from your lock screen, includes the ability to hide sensitive content for these notifications. Popup notifications will not allow incoming calls to interrupt you, you may choose to attend the call or continue what you are doing. For quick settings, just two swipes down from the top of the screen.


There are lot of features that will be discussed later, but the interesting thing that Google has launched is the latest versions of Androids Nexus devices,  Nexus 6 smartphone, Nexus 9 tablet and a TV box Nexus Player.

Talking about Nexus 6 smartphone, Nexus 6, is manufactured by Motorola and sports a massive 6 inch Quad HD display. The handset is a larger version of Moto X 2nd Gen and comes with 13MP rear camera with OIS and 2MP front shooter. It is powered by the latest Snapdragon 805 Quad-Core CPU clocked at 2.7GHz with Adreno 420 GPU, coupled with 3GB RAM. Nexus 6 will come in 32GB and 64GB variants. The 3220 mAh battery device comes with a Turbo Charger which can give up to six hours of use with only 15 minutes of charge.

Google’s new tablet dubbed Nexus 9 is built by HTC and sports a 8.9 inch IPS screen with brushed metal sides. The device is powered by 2.3GHz 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 Dual Denver SoC with 192-core Kepler GPU.  With 2GB RAM,Nexus 9 will come in 16GB and 32GB variants. It also packs an 8MP rear AF camera and 1.6MP front facing camera. A 6700 mAh battery claims to provide Wi-Fi and LTE Standby up to 30 days and upto 9.5 hours of Wi-Fi browsing.

The final device which came out of Google’s kitty is Nexus Player in collaboration with Asus. It is a streaming media player for movies, music and videos. It’s also a first-of-its-kind Android gaming device. Nexus Player can play Android games on HDTV with a gamepad. The device is Google Cast Ready so you can cast your favorite entertainment from almost any Chromebook or Android or iOS phone or tablet to your TV. As far as the specification of Nexus Player is concerned, it is powered by 1.8GHz Quad Core Intel Atom processor with 1GB RAM coupled with Imagination PowerVR Series 6 Graphics 2D/3D Engine.  It has 8GB internal storage and supports Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooh 4.1.

Availability:
Nexus 6 will be available for pre-order by October end and in stores by November. Google will be offering contract based and unlocked phones. Nexus 9 and Nexus Player will be available for pre-order starting October 17, Nexus 9 will hit stores on November 3.  There is no word about the pricing of any of these devices.

Android 5.0 Lollipop, which comes on Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player, will also be available on Nexus 4, 5, 7, 10 and Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks. As per latest reports, India is in first wave of Nexus 6 sale and we might see simultaneous availability of the Nexus 6 along with other launch countries.
