The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+smartphones feature 16-megapixel rear cameras with f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilisation, apart from a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The camera app can be opened with a double press on the home button, which also features the fingerprint sensor. A Live Broadcast feature is also being touted.
Both have no microSD card slots, and feature 3000mAh non-removable batteries. Samsung is touting the batteries feature its Fast Charging technology for both wired and wireless (WPC and PMA) options. With wired charging will deliver full charged in roughly 90 minutes, and with the new wireless charger, full charge is delivered in roughly 120 minutes.
In terms of connectivity, the two phones support WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, MIMO(2x2), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, ANT+, USB 2.0, NFC, GPS/GLONASS, and 4G LTE Cat.9 / LTE Cat.6 (differs by market) options. The phones come with a fingerprint sensor and heart rate monitor. The phones also feature NFC and MST connectivity technology, to power the already unveiled Samsung Pay mobile payment technology.
According to Samsung, the newly-designed Galaxy Note5 provides a new set of productivity tools such as SideSync, along with a much refined 5th generation S Pen capabilities for better multi-tasking. The Note5 ergonomically fits in one hand with a narrower bezel and curved back. The flat screen and the curved shape makes it easier to use the phone with one hand as per the company.
The company also unveiled Keyboard Covers for both the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones, apart from wireless charging modules and Clear View Covers. Samsung also touted support for its SideSync feature, which provides a 'wired PC-smartphone integration'. Both phones also feature Samsung Knox Active Protection, and the My Knox app.
The Galaxy S6 edge+ utilizes the edge displays offering features such as 'Apps edge' for easy access to favourite apps, and enhanced 'People edge' for easy communications with preferred contacts. 'Apps edge' allows users to access their favourite apps by just swiping the edge display. 'People edge' helps users to connect their close contacts easily. From the edge screen, users can quickly find their pre-set contacts and send message or give a call directly.
In the US, the Galaxy Note 5 will be available via AT&T (with a no commitment contract) at $739.99 (roughly Rs. 48,400) for the 32GB variant, and $839.99 (roughly Rs. 54,800) for the 64GB variant, while the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be priced at $814.99 (roughly Rs. 53,300) and $914.99 (roughly Rs. 59,800) for the 32GB and 64GB variants respectively.
