Hide ‘Seen’ Status For Readed Messages On Whatsapp For Web

We all know that WhatsApp is been used by millions of people in the world. Its so poplar that the desktop version has also been launched. Thought its not that popular like the mobile app. The service has been started since year but no one know about it since all are busy in the smartphone app. Due to which the web version has not been updated with any good or attractive feature. All it does is allow you to send and receive messages, customize new message alerts, and mute a conversation.

The smartphone apps for WhatsApp offer more features one of which allows you to disable ‘read’ receipts. The web version isn’t as lucky since it has not received this update yet. But to let you know that an extension named, ShutApp, helps you to get this feature on your web version. ShupApp is a Firefox add-on that can help you read messages on WhatsApp for web but doesn’t send a ‘seen’ report nor does it mark the message as read.

It's very easy to install, just follow the steps below to install it.
  • Install ShupApp and go to WhatsApp for Web.
  • Click on the add-on's icon to enable the "Privacy Mode".
  • Once the Primary mode is enabled, you will be able to read messages on the web version without sending a read receipt to your contact.
The person who send you the message will be able to see that the messages are delivered but not ready yet.

The 'seen' status, or lack thereof will sync to your mobile apps too i.e., messages will appear as unread on both the web and mobile clients. If, however, you view a message on a mobile app that is configured to send a read receipt, your contact will know you read the message. The add-on obviously doesn’t stop a mobile app from sending a read receipt if you read a message on it. You can toggle the read receipts On/Off by clicking the add-on icon next to the URL bar.

Install ShupApp for Firefox

Cheers!!!
