Doordarshan Starts Free TV Services for Mobile Phones
I still remember the days when their was only one channel available on television that was Doordarshan. People use to stick to tv to watch almost all the serials that were aired on this channel. But as the new era started and as new channels were launched people started forgetting this channel. But still if you see in remote place this channel is still living their and entertaining everyone. But now this channel has started a new way to attract users.
Public Broadcaster Doordarshan has started beaming free TV services to mobile phones in 16 cities, including the four metros. The sixteen cities are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Guwahati, Patna, Ranchi, Cuttack, Lucknow, Jalandhar, Raipur, Indore, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Bangalore and Ahmedabad.
Mobile TV can be received in and around these cities using DVB-T2 dongles in OTG enabled smartphones and tablets, Wi-Fi dongles for moving vehicles, besides the TV sets having built-in DVB-T2 tuner which are called Integrated Digital TV (iDTV).
Users are required to download the softwares and plug these dongles in smartphones and tablets to receive DD signal. There will be no charge for this, also, no Internet is required after installation of the software.
Currently DD National, DD News, DD Bharati, DD Sports, DD Regional/DD Kisan are being relayed. Only one-time investment of dongle will be required by viewers and there will be no extra expenditure unlike streaming with Internet.
Cheers!!!
