Enable "Undo Send" Feature in Microsoft Outlook

Email has became part of our daily routine, specially when you are working in a company where you have to deal with clients using emails. When we are using such application, we have to make sure that we are sending it to right people. We all know that Gmail has a option where we can use the Undo option when we send an incorrect email. But many of you must not be knowing that even Microsoft Outlook has the same option.

In case of Gmail, you send the email and then you can Undo it, based on the time you defined in the setting. Here, for Microsoft Outlook, your mail to sit in the Outbox for a predetermined amount of time before being sent out, giving you a grace period where you’re able to modify or retract it.

Follow the below steps to activate this feature:

1. Open up your Outlook client, click on File, then select "Manage Rules & Alerts".

2. Once you click on "Manage Rules & Alerts", click on "New Rules" button.

3. From the Rules Wizard, select "Apply rules on message I send" and click on Next button.

4. If you have no particular conditions you would like to add onto the initial rule, click "Next" again.

5. Once you proceed to next screen, check the "defer delivery by a number of minutes" box. Clicking on the blue-tinted text will open a dialog box that allows you to enter your preferred amount of time.

6. Once you’ve decided the time frame, clicking on "Next" will bring you to the exceptions page. If you have no exceptions to add, click "Next".
This will open up the "Finish Rule Setup" page where you can name your newly created rule. Click the "Finish" button to enable it.

One thing to note about "Undo Send" for the Outlook Client is that it is only available in Outlook for Windows 2016, 2013, and 2010. Those of you who are using an older version of Outlook, you will not have access to this function and for now, Outlook’s Mac client does not have this feature as well.

Cheers!!!
