Fix “The file is corrupt and cannot be opened” Error In Excel
This what somewhat happened with me today. I was working in the office and i need to work something on my excel. One file was stored on our shared folder and need to update it as per the task assigned to me. When i tried to open that file, the error i was receiving was, "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened". I was like WTH! It was one of the important file and how could it be corrupt. When i tred to open it on other PC, it was opening properly.
Its actually very disappointing when you upgrade your Office to perform better and what you get is this silly errors. Nearly all Office 2010 apps had a weird bug that results in these error dialogs when trying to open excel files. It will be better to update at regular interval to overcome this problem. If still the issue is not solved try the following steps to open the corrupted files;
1. Open MS Excel and go to File –> Options.
2. From there go to Trust Center and click on Trust Center Settings.
3. Under Trust Center settings, select Protected View and uncheck all options under it.
4. Restart the Office app, and it should open the files just fine.
That's it. This was how we open the corrupted files. Microsoft should look into this, i think :)
Cheers!!!
