Skype 6.1 for Windows Desktop With Outlook Integration

Today, Skype released an update to the Skype, which will be integrated into Outlook. This means that you can now initiate a call or instant message using Skype from within Outlook. There is no need or a condition that other user should also have Skype, it will still work. To initiate your phone call, it will take your Skype credits.

To see the improved Skype integration with Outlook, just move your cursor over a contact's name and a contact card will be displayed. Then you will be presented with some options like, call, instant message, video chat, schedule an appointment, and more. Skype has also updated its contact cards to be easier to read and edited.

Outlook integration with Skype will only work with Outlook 2010 and 2013. Mac users get an update too but it only allows making Skype calls directly from Safari. Microsoft doesn't seemed too concerned about updating Office for Mac to be comparable to Office for Windows. This is an exciting update because the time spent on email by many people is still significant. Now it's really convenient to send a Skype instant message, start a free Skype to Skype call, or make a call to any mobile or landline - all within Outlook.

Features:
  • It's easy to get in touch:
The new update have integrated Skype and Outlook to display contacts' online status, contact information and mood message within the Outlook contact card.

  • Call any phone:
When you want to call someone on their mobile or landline from Outlook, you can do it from there only. You can call anyone you like, the only required thing is to have their contact in your Outlook. No matter whether your friend have Skype installed or not. You can use your existing Skype credit or subscription to reach them.

  • Stay in touch with your Skype contacts:
You can instant message, audio or video call your any friend from the Outlook contact list who is already on Skype. To do so they need to be in your Skype contacts list.

This feature works with Outlook 2010 or higher and enables you to connect over Skype when email details match.

Some other interesting feature of Skype 6.1:
  • Add a new contact:
This has been made very easy for those who want o add new contacts. You just need to search them out of your contact list to add them. No problem if they are not in your contact list, it will search them for you and then you can add them.
