Sony Xperia ZR: Review & Specification

Its been hardly a month or a more, Sony announced its new smartphones, Xperia ZR. After a success of Sony Xperia Z, this is the new phone that has just been launched. Talking about this phones, it has a special feature of underwater photography. Using this feature, you can click underwater photos. By this you must have got the point that this is another water proof phone.


The latest Android smartphone has features similar to its predecessors, but it increases the durability factor and reaches a new threshold for water resistance. The Xperia ZR is dust-resistant and has IP55 and IP58 waterproof compliance. The phone can survive being in up to 1.5 meters (4.9 ft) of water and still use take pictures or record video using the dedicated camera key.


The device has a 4.6-inch HD display with Sony's proprietary BRAVIA Engine 2 for custom settings for brightness. A 1.5 GHz quad-core processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro), 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, a microSD slot up to 32GB, and Android 4.1 software round-out the list of familiar specifications. A 13 megapixel rear Exmor RS camera and a VGA front-facing camera handle the photo and video duties. It will be powered by 2,300 mAh battery for longer talk time support. Outside of LTE, the Xperia ZR will support GSM/UMTS in all flavors, 850, 900, 1700, 1900, and 2100MHz at HSPA+ speeds. NFC is on board and the Xperia ZR will also support HD voice.

Details on price and availability have yet to be announced, but Sony says that the Xperia ZR will go on sale in select markets beginning either later this month or in June.
