Winamp Shutting Down From December 20th

In the late 90's, when people use to work on their computer, the first thing that they always did was to play their playlist of selected songs in Winamp. Even I remember, when i use to create my playlist and use to listen it. But now this are the gone days. After serving music lovers for around 16 years, AOL confirmed on Wednesday that the Winamp website and associated web services will no longer be available past December 20, 2013, and the Winamp Media Player will no longer be available for download. Winamp was originally developed by Justin Frankel and Dmitry Boldyrev, and first released as freeware back on April 21, 1997.

Though Winamp eventually lost popularity, in the late '90s and early 2000s it was one of the media players for listening to local music or radio streams. In 2002, Winamp's maker, Nullsoft, was acquired by AOL for over $80 million in stock, where it's remained in development until now. A Mac and an Android version were even released in recent years, though they never found the same fan base that its customizable Windows client did.

There was no reason given for the shutdown, but it seems that it didn't gain that much popularity as compared to iTunes.

But even if you want to download the copy of Winamp, just click here.

Cheers!!!
