Android 4.4 Kit-Kat Launcher For Any Android Phone With Jelly Bean
Google has recently announced the new version of Android, 4.4 Kit-Kat for the flagship phone LG Nexus 5. We have already covered what new features we will be getting on this version. To know more about it, click here. But it is for sure that it will come up with lots of new features and changes. One such change was the launcher. Also, the Android 4.3 has already been rolled out, so if you still want to try the new 4.4 KitKat on your Android having 4.3.
The 4.4 Kit-Kat is equipped with new launcher which gives some UI changes along with new features. As you all know that the Android 4.4 is available only on the LG's Nexus 5. But if you want to try the new launcher on your Android phone running Jelly Bean, you can do it.
Some files including the launcher has been extracted from the new Nexus 5 smartphone. So there are chances that it might not work as intended on some of the phones. Therefore, try this only if your smartphone has the Android Jelly Bean (4.1, 4.2 0r 4.3)
Pre-Requisites:
1. Firstly, you need to download the zip file from here.
2. Unzip the file and you will see 3 files:
4. Once install, launch the launcher. You will see some pre-defined information about the new launcher.
5. Then you will be shown your HomeScreen with an updated UI.
6. Clicking on the Options button, gives you the new interface of Wallpaper, Widgets and Settings.
7. All the Google application are stacked in one folder, clicking on the folder gives you the list of apps placed in that.
I have tested this launcher on my Galaxy S4 and it works fine. Only the problem was while installing the "PrebuiltGmsCore.apk". But it seems that its not affecting me, atleast till now. But yes, the Google Search was giving some error and was need to force close. I dont know the reason, but will try to find out and will update.
Once you have installed, make the new launcher as your default launcher. That's it. Now you can experience the new 4.4 Kit-Kat on your Android phone.
Thanks to XDA Developers
Cheers!!!
