Compress Images Without Losing Picture Quality

There was time when we use to copy images from one mobile to other in just a seconds. Similarly for PC's copying any images taken from a digicam was not that problematic. Those time the size of the images were not much heavy as compare now. Now, even a normal image taken from my mobile (Galaxy S4) is of 4 to 5 MB in size. The reason for this is that Smartphones and digital cameras have reached 4K resolution and offers photographs and videos with very high quality. Which makes the image very much heavy.

The other thing that if you want to store all this images to some cloud service, it will take too uch space and time. Recently, we have seen a post in which Canon is offering free 10 GB of cloud space. Therefore, to wisely use the cloud space, you should compress the size of your images. There are many tools and online sites available which can compress the images. But the problem with most of this is that, it reduces the picture quality.

To overcome this problem, i came across a web service which can compress the image size without affecting the picture quality. The name of the web application is new called “Compressor.io”.

Lets see how this works:
  • Visit Compressor.io to start using the application.
  • You can directly upload the images without registering or getting connected to any social sites.
Note: You cannot upload file size more than 10MB and only one picture can be compressed at a time.

It supports four different image formats like JPG, PNG, GIF and SVG. When you upload an image, you see 2 types of compression: “Lossy” and “Lossless”. Talking about this 2 compression, Lossy compression will reduce very minute amount of image quality and offers compression of 80% of the image size. Lossless will not touch the quality of the image and offers compression of 60% of the image size. The process of uploading and compression is pretty quick and the real time slider after the compression will show the difference between the original and the compressed image.

Once the compression is completed, you have the option to download the file or save it to Google Drive or save it to Dropbox.

Visit Compressor.io

Cheers!!!
