Anndroid Malware Makes Calls & Steals Your Photos
New malware virsu has recently been reported that can make calls from your phone and can steal the photos. Also this can be happen even if your phone is shut down, as reported by AVG.
The malware, known as PowerOffHijack, was first discovered in China, and prompts a fake dialogue box when the user presses the power button. Talking more briefly, the malware tricks phone owners into thinking that they have shut down their devices. Pressing the power button on an infected phone calls up a fake Power Off button onto the screen. When tapped, only the phone’s screen, sound alerts, and notification lights are actually powered off.
But in reality, the phone remains turned on and the malware comes into effect. During this time, apart from exploiting the basic functions of the phone, the malware can also access sensitive information off the device.
PowerOffHijack is mainly targeting phones with Android Lollipop, and has already infected more than 10,000 phones worldwide. But to let you know that the phone mailny affects the phone which are rooted. Also, the malware is hidden inside some apps found on Chinese app markets. So, if you’re not downloading apps from third-party Chinese app markets, you’re probably safe.
The good news is that this creepy spyware isn’t something that has been, or probably ever will be, found in Google Play apps. So if you want to install any app please use Google Play store and do not go for any third-party app using which you can install other apps. Android has gone through all the apps in the market and is scanning them before and after you install them in your smartphone.
Cheers!!!
