Sony launches Xperia Z5, Z5 Premium & Z5 Compact

The most awaited phone has been launched by Sony Electronics on the sidelines of IFA 2015, Berlin. Sony has launched three new smartphones -- Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact.

Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact will be launched globally starting October 2015, and Xperia Z5 Premium starting November 2015. Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium will be available in both single- and dual-sim variants. All the devices are water-resistant (IP 65/68). These are also the first Sony smartphones to feature a fingerprint sensor for security integrated with the power button which is located at the right edge of the phone.  Xperia Z5 Compact will come in Yellow and Coral, in addition to White and Graphite Black colours.


The two smartphones sport near identical specifications, with the only difference being the size of the screen. While the Xperia Z5 comes with a 5.2-inch display, the Xperia Z5 Compact sports a 4.6-inch screen. Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, featuring a 64-bit octa-core processor and 4G LTE capabilities.


Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the company's flagship offering and the first smartphone to come with a 4K resolution display. The Z5 Premium sports a 5.5-inch 4K ?Triluminos display (3840 x 2160p). It upscales content to 4K, enhancing any native or third party videos or photos so users can view Netflix, YouTube or their own videos in 4K. Xperia Z5 will come in White, Graphite Black, Gold and Green colours.


Xperia Z5 series phones feature Sony's new 1/2.3 Exmor RS for mobile 23MP sensor and F2.0 G Lens with a 5MP front camera.


The Sony Xperia Z5, on the other hand, comes with a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080x1920p) display. The Xperia Z5 Compact comes with the same features and hardware seen in Xperia Z5 but sports a 4.6-inch display.


The three phones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor and come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB in-built storage expandable up to 200GB via microSD card. The phone support Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 that enables users to get 5.5 hours usage with just 10 minutes of charging with a certified Quick Charge 2.0 charger.  The two devices come with a frosted glass finishing at the rear and capless USB.

The phones support 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity options. Xperia Z5 Premium is backed by a 3,430mAh battery lasting for up to two days, as per the company.
