Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Launched in India
Samsung unveiled the most awaited flagships Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones at the MWC 2016 event held in Barcelona last month. Yesterday, the brand officially released both the smartphones in China priced at 4888 Yuan and 5688 Yuan respectively. Samsung also announced that the early adopters in China will get the devices at a 20% discounted price.
As teased earlier, the company has today finally launched the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones priced at Rs. 48,900 and Rs. 56,900 respectively in India. The smartphones are available for pre-order starting today and will be available for purchase starting March 18th.
Coming to the specifications part, the Samsung Galaxy S7 flaunts a 5.1-inch (2560×1440 pixels) 2K Super AMOLED display offering a pixel density of 577ppi while the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge features a slightly larger 5.5-inch (2560×1440 pixels) QHD Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 534ppi. Both the smartphones feature an Always-on display that shows the notifications and useful information even when the screen is turned off. Additionally, like the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy S7 Edge also sports an Edge screen for quick access to various apps.
The smartphones come powered by all-new 64-bit Samsung Exynos 8890 octa-core processor clocked at 2.6GHz clubbed with Mali-T880 MP12 GPU and 4GB of RAM. The devices feature hybrid sim slot that lets you use microSD card slot instead of the second sim. The smartphones come with 32GB of built-in storage and also include a microSD card slot for further expansion of memory upto 200GB that was missing in the earlier launched Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The devices support dual sim dual standby and run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
On the photographic section, the smartphones feature a 12MP primary camera with world’s first Dual Pixel sensor that can focus on the objects blazingly fast as all the pixels are used for emphasis on the objects, f/1.7 aperture and dual-tone LED flash for stunning captures even in low-light conditions. On the front, the smartphones have a 5MP snapper with a f/1.7 aperture for video chats and perfect selfie images. Connectivity options on the devices include 4G-LTE, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and a microUSB 2.0 port.
The smartphones feature a beautiful metal and glass design with a curved back, rounded edges to offer better grip to hold the device and are also iP68 certified making them water and dust resistant. The devices also include a fingerprint sensor integrated into the physical home button for enhanced security and support for Samsung Pay virtual payments. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge comes backed by 3000mAh and 3600mAh battery respectively and also supports fast charging and wireless charging.
