Check if Your Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is Safe or Note

We all know the fact about what happened with Samsung Note 7. Due to the blast issue all the smartphones were recalled. Samsung is replacing potentially dangerous Galaxy Note 7's purchased during the first few weeks of the phone's availability with new safe versions. More than 90 Galaxy Note 7 smartphones have overheated due to defective batteries in just the US alone, and some users have reported battery explosions that have been blamed for fires in a Jeep and garage. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a formal recall of Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 on Thursday.

But now the site has come with an update which will prevent this blast issue. Samsung will be taking multiple different approaches to ensure customer safety when it comes to the Galaxy Note 7. An update should be rolling out that will stop affected devices from charging past 60%, to prevent over-heating and explosions. New replacement models will be clearly marked as well. There are several ways using which you can check if your phone is safe or not.

Method 1:
Check the Lable:
All you have to do is to check the bottom of the box. Replacement Note 7 issued after the recall will have a small black square on the sticker found on the outside of the box with the phone's unique IMEI number. You can find this symbol in the top right corner of box's bottom label.

Note: Some parts of the world, such as Australia, may have an additional "S" marking on the box indicating the phone is new and safe.

Method 2:
Look for Green icon:
Samsung said the battery indicator on new Note 7 units will now appear green. You will see this green indicator on the status bar, the always-on display screen, and the power off prompt screen.

Keep in mind Samsung reportedly said a software update will actually change the indicator to green, meaning you'll need to install an over-the-air update to see it, according to DroidLife.

Method 3:
Check using IMEI Number:
Samsung announced a new website that lets you enter your Note 7's IMEI number to see if it is faulty. You can find the IMEI by entering *#06# into the phone app, or you can get it from your Note 7's packaging (look for the bottom label).

You can head over to Samsung’s Note 7 IMEI checker where you can insert your IMEI or serial number to verify whether or not your device is affected by the recall.

If your device has a black, square symbol on its packaging, is able to update and show a green battery indicator on the status bar and elsewhere, and fails to show up in Samsung's website after you've entered its IMEI number, then you have bought a safe Note 7. Congrats.

Galaxy Note7 owners can contact the carrier or retail outlet where they purchased their device. If you bought your Note7 from Samsung.com, you should contact us at 1-844-365-6197 and we can help you. If you have any questions or concerns, contact us directly at 1-844-365-6197.
