New smart strap turns your finger into a phone!

We started with a normal telephone then with the help of technology and other tech we are now in a situation where we don't even need any thing to pick up any call. Thanks to Bluetooth for that. But now days technology has crossed all the limits of human mind and inventions. But this is just a start, we are yet to see the best in future. Today, we pick our call by touching/ swaping on the screen. Or we use bluetooth and pick up the calls by pressing the button. There are various ways also using which you pick the incoming call. But now you can pick any call by using your finger tip in which you don't need to see the smartphone.

Thanks to an invention known as Sgnl, using which you may soon be able to answer phone calls just by placing your finger in your ear, thanks to a new wearable smartwatch strap developed by a Korean company.

What is this Sgnl?
Sgnl is the smart strap that enables you to answer phone calls through your fingertip. Simply place your fingertip to your ear while speak through the embedded microphone. Replace your existing watch strap with Sgnl and you’re done, whether you wear a classic watch or an Apple Watch, Samsung Gear, or Pebble Time.

The smart strap connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth and contains a so-called “Body Conduction Unit” (BCU), which seems to be a special haptic motor designed to transmit vibration through the wearer’s hand to his or her fingertip. Users are supposed to place their fingertip on their ear, and hear the caller’s voice generated by vibrations. Although the strap does not contain a speaker, it does include a microphone, otherwise phone calls would have been one-way only.

Sgnl isn't the first product to eschew traditional audio drivers while still being able to deliver sound – the AfterShokz Trekz Titanium headphones work by directing vibrations to the inner ear through the cheekbones.

As with your typical earpiece, the Sgnl smart strap pairs to mobile devices (running Android 4.4 or iOS 8 or newer) via Bluetooth. The band itself features an actuator unit that generates vibrations as it presses against the wrist. Users are physically notified of incoming calls, and a press of Sgnl's function button accepts them.

This project is coming from a startup called Innomdle Lab. It’s their first project and for the same, a Kickstarter project has been launched looking for $50,000. It is safe to say that they have already reached their target. Sgnl units are now selling for around $139. Not that expensive for the type of product which it is.

The Sgnl smart strap is compatible with most 18 - 24 mm classic and smart watches, including the Apple Watch, Samsung Gear, and Pebble Time. Although primarily meant as a watch accessory, Sgnl can be worn as a stand-alone smart band without losing any of its core functionality. An (optional) Sgnl mobile app offers features of call reminders, activity tracking, and smart alerts.

SGNL is currently on Kickstarter, raising funds, but it's actually an off-shoot of Samsung, and we found it being demonstrated on the Samsung stand at IFA 2016.

The Samsung rep on the stand said that it would be available in February. We're expecting to see SGNL again at MWC 2017.

Cheers!!!
