Hide/Show Hidden Files and Extensions from System Tray

Windows offer us the option to hide the files from the Windows Explorer and you again view it from there. In the same it also provides us to view the File Extensions. This both option is available in the Windows Explorer but every time you have to go to settings and all those steps again and again to hide and unhide. So to overcome this lengthy steps Hifito replaces all those steps into an single click.

Hifito is a small utility for Windows, that allows us to select the “Show hidden files” and “Hide extensions for known file types” in a click. Both settings can be changed using a global, system-wide hotkey or through the tray menu. The utility is written in C using only the Windows API, so it's really fast and lightweight.

Once you run the app, it is available in the system tray from where you can easily select the this options. It provides us with two options "Show Hidden Files" and "Show File Extensions".
How to install this app:

1. Go to Hifiti website here.

2. Download and install the application.

3. After installation it will be displayed in the System Tray.

4. Go to system tray and click on the Hifiti logo. You will see a popup with the two options.

5. You can assign the hotkeys to two options by clicking on the Hifito logo in system tray and select "Setup" option.

The program is a single native Windows executable, you can put it anywhere on your disk and start it from there. If you would like to make Hifito start automatically during system startup, create a shortcut to Hifito.exe in your startup menu (Start Menu > All Programs > Startup).

Note: Hifito can run on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (and probably Windows 8).

Features

  • Toggles hidden files visibility
  • Toggles file name extensions visibility
  • Allows assigning global hotkeys for toggling
  • Allows toggling the settings using the tray menu
  • Optionally informs about current state using a popup balloon notification
  • Tiny (about 50KB), written using pure Windows API.
