Cheapest Tablet Aakash - 2
Many days we have seen a post related to the Aakash tablet. The tablet with the cheap rate. The Aakash tablet was launched for the students. Recently, President Pranab Mukherjee launched the another version of tablet Aakash tablet-2 at the most cheapest cost. This tablet was launched as an educational tool. This Aakash-2 tablet is an improved version of India's Super cheap tablet computer. It has been developed under the aegis of IIT Bombay with the active support of C-DAC.
The first version of the Aakash was launched by the government in October last year but it was marred by problems including a short battery life, initial long waiting lists and difficulties with distribution. "The price is Rs 2,263 at which the government purchases the device from us. The government subsidises it by 50 per cent and it will be distributed to students at Rs 1,130," said Datawind CEO Suneet Tuli.
It took 13 months for Aakash - 2 to join the tablet era. Talking about the specification, the Aakash-2 is powered by 1GHz Cortex A8 Processor. It consists of 512MB RAM. The screen size sports a multi-point 7" capacitive screen and runs on Android 4 ICS. Comparing to the previous version of Aakash, it was having only 366MHz processor and 256MB RAM, with 7" resistive screen and Android Froyo. Talking about the upgrading, Aakash-2 has a expandable memory upto 32GB and 4GB of Internal storage, which is double of the previous version. Also giving an access to google Play Store.
Some of the new technology-enabled educational applications that can run on Aakash Version 2.0 tablet include
• Ten Thousand Teachers Training Programme - a live video interaction with participants,
• Clicker applications for real time feedback in country-wide classroom,
• Daisy Books for differently-abled students,
• NCERT content , GNU Khata- an accounting package for barefoot accountants in rural areas
• Scholarship Portal integrated with Aadhar.
The Aakash-2 is priced at approximately USD 49$ (Rs 2450). This is one of the decent device with the cheap price that you wont find in any tablet.
Cheers!!!
