Pin Any File Or Folder To Start Menu In Windows

We always love when things are available the way we want it to be. This applies to all aspects in our life. Computer and technology is one such part. I still remember until i found this trick, when i want to access my important folder from my 500GB hard disk. Sometime it was a mess, searching around form hundreds 's of folders. Then we started pinning those folders to taskbar. or to Start Menu. It has always helped us in accessing our favourite folder.


To elaborate it more easily we will be discussing two method related to this. Our of which one such method is to pin any of your file/folder to Start Menu. This feature is available only for all executable files but not for files and folders. And the second method is by Drag and Drop.

Method 1:
Drag And Drop Way:

I guess many of you must not be knowing this. But it is one the simplest way to pin your folder to Star Menu.

1. Select any of your folder or say the folder that you want to pin to Star Menu.

2. Select and Drag it to Start Orb icon.


3. As you drag it to Start Orb icon, you will see a message like 'Pin to Stat menu'.

4. Then the Start menu pops up and then drop it there.


Isn't its the simplest way? You can add any of your favourite folder to it.

Method 2:
Pin to Star menu from Right Click:

For this we need to do some changes in the Registry.

1. Launch Run dialog by pressing Win+R key. Type Regedit and press the Enter button.


2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT -> Folder -> ShellEx -> ContextMenuHandlers from the left pane of the Registry Editor.


3. Right click and select New -> Key, as shown in the picture above.

4. Now name the folder as "{a2a9545d-a0c2-42b4-9708-a0b2badd77c8}" and press the Enter key.


That's it. Now to check this just right click on any folder from your drive and you will see a option "Pin to Star Menu".Both the above methods are the simplest way to access your favourite folders from the Star menu. You don't have follow the same path by first opening My Computer then select the drive and then search for your folder.
