Sony PlayStation 4 to Launch in India on December 18

Finally, PS4 is coming to India. There were many rumours and speculations about the launch of PS4 in India. Sony has overtaken rival Microsoft and announced that its next generation gaming console PlayStation 4 will be launched in India on December 18. Meanwhile, there has been no announcement from Microsoft on the launch or availability of Xbox One in India. Since its debut in the US and European markets last month, the PS4 has been creating quite a frenzy selling more than a million units on day one and two million units in just under two weeks and well on its way to achieve its target of selling more than 3 million PS4's by the end of the year.

The PlayStation 4 marks Sony's move away from the Cell architecture seen in PS3. Cell architecture was jointly developed by Sony, Toshiba and IBM, but many developers found it difficult to make games for the PS3 due to its complicated architecture. Sony has used AMD processors in the PS4 in a bid to make it developer-friendly. Sony PS4 is the successor to the PS3, which was launched in 2006. PS4 was first launched in the US on November 15, followed by Europe, Australia and UAE.

During the launch event, Sony India head Atindriya Bose said they will reveal the MRP of the console at the launch event, and also added that as of now, first party titles for the PS4 will retail at 3,999 INR and accessories such as the DualShock 4 and PS Eye camera will be available but in limited quantities.

The Sony PlayStation 4 for the first time in the console's history has been priced below Microsoft's counterpart, at $399 (25,000 INR) compared to the $499 Xbox One. But it is expected that the console will launch in India between the price of 38,000 INR to 45,000 INR.

Cheers!!!
