Turf Off Auto-Playing of Videos in Facebook
Recently, a new feature, not new but a known feature has been seen on the Facebook. When you scroll down to see the Facebook feed, if you come across a video, it automatically plays/starts. This can be sometimes good so that you don't have to click on it to play. But sometimes you get irked by Facebook auto-playing videos which you never intended to click. This features was rolled out in march. Thinking from the point of profit, Facebook advertisers were happy and was also favourable for the social network since it makes most of its money from ads.
You must not be knowing, but this was universally hated by Facebook users. People hated it so much that this has now become the most annoying feature of the Facebook. When Facebook came to know about this, they have finally introduced a way to stop these videos from auto playing.
If you are one of those who too hated this feature, then this post is definately for you. Follow the below steps to stop the videos from auto playing.
For Desktop Users:
1. Log in to your Facebook account and click the arrow button on the top right corner.
2. Select 'Settings'. After you do this, a new page will open with a list of sections on the left.
3. Select 'Videos' at the bottom of the list.
4. In video settings, go to 'Auto-Play Videos'. You'll see that Facebook has turned this feature 'On' as default. Turn it 'Off' to stop videos from auto playing.
But you can't relax just yet. Just changing the setting for desktop doesn't fix the settings in the Facebook app. If you use Facebook on your mobile phone, there are a couple of steps more that you need to follow.
For Android Users:
1. Open Facebook on your mobile, and press the Hamburger icon on the top right corner of your screen. For those who don't know, it's the button with three horizontal lines.
2. Scroll down to select 'App Settings.'
3. A list of options will open up. Select 'Video Auto-Play' in General Settings.
4. Select settings according to your convenience. Options are available to auto-play all, auto-play only on Wi-Fi, or not at all.
For iOS Users:
1. Open the 'Settings' app in your iPhone/iPad and scroll down to 'Facebook'.
2. In 'Facebook', select 'Settings' and open 'Video Settings'
You will see three options under settings for Android and iOS, Off, On, and Wi-Fi only. Select according to your preference. Windows Phone users don't have the option to disable auto-playing video ads as of now.
Hope this steps helps you.
Cheers!!!
