Get LG’s Knock Code (Lock Security) on Other Android Phones

Every smartphone has something unique feature that makes it special and attractive. We have seen this feature in Samsung, Motorola, Sony and many more. Recently, LG has launched anew feature in its smartphone. This feature is known as Knock code. Knock Code is a unique security feature of LG’s Android smartphone that lets you conveniently unlock your phone by just tapping a customized pattern on the screen using one hand.

This is something really interesting. When i first heard of this, i wanted to have it too. But it was a unique feature of LG's phone. But now you an have it on your Android phone. You can replicate LG’s Knock Code security feature on other phones running on Android 4.2 and later.

The main reason of using security is to keep the phone safe. If the phone is secure, your personal data will be secured from falling into wrong hand. You do have the option of locking your phone using PIN, pattern and lock feature. But this can be a kind of a daily job of unlocking a phone by using pattern or PIN. So now using the Knock code you have a new option to unlock your phone.

LG’s Knock Code enables you to unlock the phone conveniently with a simple onscreen knock pattern. In order to use Knock Code on your non-LG device, you need to be rooted phone running on Android 4.2 and later and have the Xposed Framework installed. You can Google on how to install the Xposed Framework. Lets see how this works:
  • Download and install ‘Knock Code’ module APK from here. Alternatively, run Xposed app on your phone, tap ‘Download’ option, search for ‘Knock Code’ and download it. The module will automatically install. You should then activate it.
  • Open app drawer and run the Knock Code app. Use the ‘Change knock code’ option to set your knock code.

You will need to set the stock Android 3*3 grid pattern in settings, after that, set a knock code pattern in the app.
The default knock is:
1 2
3 4

If for any reason your code fails to load, use that. If you made a mistake while entering the code, tap and hold to reset what you entered.

From a security point of view, this isn't the most secure way of locking your device. Due to the way Xposed works, the file where the code is stored is world-readable, meaning you don't even need root to read it. This means any app can read the code. A good way to reduce the exploit surface is to disable USB debugging, that way, chances of a local exploit are reduced.
The password is encrypted, but it's more of a way to make reading it harder, anyone slightly determined to get your code can.

Cheers!!!
