Limitations in Desktop Version of WhatsApp Web
There is no need of saying anything about one of the mostly used messenger service, WhatsApp. There are around 700 million active users which also makes its one of the best app. The WhatsApp was available for Android, Windows, iPhone and Blackberry. Now, as you all must be knowing, it is also available for PC/Desktop. Some days back, the desktop version WhatsApp Web was launched only for Chrome browser using which you can use WhatsApp on desktop too.
Currently, you might not be having the update but soon you will have it. But to let you know, that there are some limitations of WhatApp Web. So before you switch to the desktop version please go thorough below limitations:
1. You need to keep your phone on and stay connected to the internet:
Once you pair your phone with WhatApp Web using the QR code, you will be able to send and receive messages using your Chrome Browser. But what will happen if the data connection gets disconnected? or your phone goes out of battery? In that case, the WhatsApp Web will also be offline and you will be disconnected with the desktop version. Wow, so indirectly you have keep phone awake every time to run the desktop version. Then what is the use of it?
2. Runs only on Google Chrome:
You will be able to use the desktop version only on Google Chrome. So if you are a default user of Firefox or Safari or any other browser, then, sorry its not for you. Its a kind of restriction. If your ITS people has restricted the use of the such applications, then you wont be able to use this app. Now that sucks.
3. You can't create and leave groups:
You must be having more than 5 different groups that you use on your WhatsApp. You also keep creating new groups or leaving some groups. But on WhatsApp Web you wont be able to create or leave any groups. You also can't send broadcast messages via the web client. I still think then what is the actual purpose of this desktop version, just reading and sending message?
4. You can't block users:
You will definately get some annoying people on WhatsApp. You do have an option of blocking them. But, unfortunately, the web version does not offer the block feature. If someone is sending your spam message or annoying you, then its better to use the mobile version for blocking. Atleast this was expected, in term of security. You can't block?
5. Not for iPhone, yet:
As said and as known, the desktop version is not available for the iPhone users. According to WhatsApp it's unable to provide the web client to iOS users due to Apple's platform limitations. But they did mentioned that they will be having it in future. So just wait for the iPhone version.
Cheers!!!
