Imagine that you are getting a smartphone which has all the basic features. How much will you pay for that? As far as i think 2000 Rs would be enough. No, its too much? Ok then what about Rs 1500? Still it too much? Common, what can you expect. Ok last and final Rs 1000. Still NO? Sorry can't think about a smartphone less than this price. But now you can. Yes, Ringing Bells is set to official unveil the smartphone, delivering on its commitment of launching the cheapest smartphone in India. Named as Freedom 251, the company will release the phone in the country tomorrow, February 17. Ringing Bells had announced earlier that the Freedom 251 will be priced at "less than Rs. 500". But we can now confirm that the smartphone will be priced at Rs. 251 (less than $4). At that price, it's easily the most affordable smartphone in the world.
Note: The booking starts from 18th Feb from 6 AM onwards.
The phone will be launched by Union defense minister Manohar Parrikar. Based in Noida, Ringing Bells was founded in 2015 and it recently launched one of India’s cheapest 4G smartphone Bell 101 at Rs 2,999. It even released two feature phones in the country called as Bell Master and Bell 4U which are priced at Rs 999 and Rs 799 respectively.
Talking about he specification, it sports a 4-inch IPS display (resolution unspecified). It is powered by a quad-core SoC from an unspecified brand clocked at 1.3GHz, coupled with 1GB of RAM. The Freedom 251 comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB).
Other specifications of the Freedom 251 include a 3.2-megapixel rear camera, a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 3G support, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a 1450mAh battery. The Freedom 251 smartphone ships with a number of apps pre-installed on it. Some of which include Women Safety, Swachh Bharat, Fisherman, Farmer, Medical, Google Play, WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube.
Ringing Bells assures that it has more than 650 service centers across different parts of India, and is giving one-year warranty on the smartphone.
