Freedom 251 Smartphone: Real or Fake: User's Not Able To Buy This Smartphone

Latest Update: Apology message from Freedom 251

Till yesterday everyone was talking about Freedom 251. It was impossible to believe to get a smartphone in a price which costs less than a phone battery. I know its a bit tricky to think about but yes it existed and the bookings were open today in the morning at 6 AM. And i am very much sure, almost 80% of indian were online in the morning to book the phone.

Launched today by Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar at an event in New Delhi, the new smartphone from recently formed Ringing Bells Pvt Ltd was touted to absolutely wreck the industry on release. And that’s when more details started trickling in.

But all this fiasco went away when the buyer tried to book the phone online. When you book the phone you will be ask to enter all your details like, address, phone number and other details. Then you need to click on the Pay Now button. That's it. The phone will be delivered in next 4 months.

Lets first understand the history behind this phone. While the initial announcement made was that the phone would cost Rs 500, subsequent clarifications revealed it would instead be priced at Rs 251. Sounds too good to be true? Well, that might be because it is. Why would the company be in loss by selling the smartphone at this price? Even though the company uses cheapest components the phone will cost around 1000, then why they want to sell it at such lowesr price? There is one more phone in the market that has almost same config as Freedom 251 but even that phone costs Rs 4081.

Talking about booking the phone. Firstly, the site is very unprofessionally managed. No matter what high speed internet service you are using, the site itself is very slow. Many time the page crashes when you click on the buy link after entering all the details. If you get success you will be doported to CCavenue.com site to process the payment. That's so not good.

If the company is not trying to be professional how will they even provide the phone in 4 months. The phone also looks nothing like the renders posted on the company's website and on its social media accounts. The actual look of the phone, however, matches the image published on the full-page ads that appeared on Wednesday in national dailies.

I don't know if i should suggest you to by this phone or not. As per the media news ICA has forwarded a message to telecom minister of india to check the issue and it will come to know whether it is original or fake if government respond to this. (source: IBNlive)

Lets see what the company has to say about this. Let me know if you come to know any updates on this.

Cheers!!
