Open Facebook When Blocked
Blocked sites has always been a headache for employees like me working in MNC companies. We have already seen many posts like opening any blocked sites or accessing Gmail when blocked. But still i have received some mails regarding on opening facebook when blocked. The admin tries his best in blocking social networking sites or any gaming or email sites. But employees, like me :), finds other hundreds of ways to open it again. Similarly i found one another way to open any blocked website. In my previous post i had wrote something about an application UltraSurf. UltraSurf bypasses the ip address and connects to the proxy allowing us to access any bocked website.
Similarly, Tor Browser Bundle works in same manner but with different feature. The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked. A bit same like UltraSurf.
The Tor works with the help of Vidalia. Vidalia is a cross-platform graphical controller for the Tor software, built using the Qt framework. Vidalia lets you start and stop Tor, see how much bandwidth you are consuming, see how many circuits you currently have active, see where these circuits are connected on a global map, view messages from Tor about its progress and current state, and let you configure your Tor client, bridge, or relay with a simple interface. Included in Vidalia is an extensive help system which helps you understand all of the options available to you. All of these features are translated into a large number of languages.
How this Tor Browser Bundle works:
1. Download and install Tor Browser Bundle from here.
2. Since, its not an executable file you just need to extract it somewhere on your pc.
3. Once you extract, open the extracted the folder, in which it was extracted.
4. You will find a .exe file with name "Start Tor Browser.exe". Double click on it to run.
Note: The Tor browser works on Firefox. So by default it will open the Firefox browser when you double click on Start Tor Browser.
5. You will see a Vidalia window getting to connect to the Tor.
6. Once it gets connected to Tor, you will see a FireFox browser window with a message "Your browser have configured to Tor". It will also display the IP address that will be appear.
7. You can change the settings by clicking on the Settings button from the Vidalia window.
That's it. Now you are free to use or access any blocked website in your office or school or home.
The Tor Browser Bundle lets you use Tor on Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux without needing to install any software. It can run off a USB flash drive, comes with a pre-configured web browser to protect your anonymity, and is self-contained.
