Samsung Galaxy S III Mini: Specification, Review & Price

For those who thinks Samsung Galaxy S3 is too big to handle, here's the mini version of it. Samsung has officially unveiled its 4-inch Galaxy S III mini in Germany. But as per the report it seems a mixed reaction of S III mini. Though it has not came up with great specification and features. It consists of only 4-inch screen. There was a huge hope that the mini edition will be the a powerful handset with quad core processor, but it let down many of the S III lover. The all-new device features the 'pebble' design language that the Galaxy S III and Note II have.

It's no where near to Galaxy S III but looks like an competition to HTC One, Nokia Lumia 710 and Galaxy Ace 2. The S III mini has the same name and general design profile as its big brother S III.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini: Specs & Features

The tiny version of Galaxy S3 comes with a 4-inch display with disappointing resolution of 800 x 400 giving a pixel density of 233 ppi. But you will get a screen made of Samsung’s famed Super AMOLED technology. The inner part is fitted with 1GHz dual core CPU (degraded from 1.5GHz) then you get 1GB of RAM (degraded form 2GB), and 16GB of onboard storage. The feature not to be upset of is the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean firmware, which is the only fresh thing with the handset.

The camera is sadly degraded from 8MP to 5MP rear camera with AF + LED flash. And for video chatting, you have a front facing VGA camera (down from the 1.9megapixel camera in the S3 original.) . There is NFC for proximal communications and a microSD slot using which the memory can be expanded. 1,500mAh battery (degraded from 2100mAh) can be good for power backup.

The small handset is ofcourse more pocket friendly as compared to its big brother S III. Therefor the dimension for this phone is 121.55 x 63 x 9.85mm and weighs 111.5gm, which definitely means that it is much light weight and smaller than S III. Due to big size of S III it was a bit difficult for some users to carry it in the pocket, now they had a relief with S III mini. But above all its not that powerful when compared to S III. It also has the S Beam feature which lets you share a 10MB music file in two seconds by tapping on another S Beam-enabled device (e.g. S3 or Galaxy Note II), even with a Wi-Fi or cellular signal. It also has some of the unique features that were present in the Galaxy S3 including S Voice, Smart Stay, Direct Call, S Beam and Buddy photo share.

It's consists of HSPA bands 14.4/5.76 900/1900/2100 and EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 bands. In other words, there's no LTE support. The screen lits up when you glance at the camera, and DLNA sharing that helps you transfer content like photos and video between compatible devices, like to your TV. The phone also consists 3G (HSDPA: 14.4 Mbps, HSUPA: 5.76Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v 4.0, GPS/GLONASS and NFC.

There was no word on the pricing and availability of the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini globally as well as in India. However, India is one of the biggest markets for Samsung and we expect that the phone will soon be officially launched in the country.

Cheers!!!
