Nokia 3310 Re-launch: Specification, Price & More
It has been 17 years since it first came into our eyesight and since then has been the ‘nostalgic’ phone for the Indian crowd. The phone has now made a comeback and in a rather sporty and refreshing way. Nokia 3310, an old time favourite which was a power workhouse and known for its durability, is back in a newer, more colourful form factor.
HMD Global and Nokia announced four new phones at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona. Nokia 6, 5, and 3 are all pure Android smartphones, but the highlight of the event was the Nokia 3310, which is back in a modern form.
The Nokia 3310 sports a 2.4-inch QVGA (240x320 pixel) colour display, compared to the 48x84 pixel resolution of the original. The handset runs on Nokia Series 30+ OS and comes with 16MB storage and supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 32GB). On the back is a 2-megapixel camera with LED flash; the feature phone also offers FM radio. Nokia 3310 (2017) packs a removable 1200mAh battery that offers 22 hour talk-time and month-long standby time.
The new Nokia 3310, much like its original sibling, features a massive standby time of up to a month, a highlight of the device. The new Nokia 3310 also includes the regular Micro-USB port and ditches the pin charger. It supports 2G Internet access and Bluetooth 3.0 with Nokia's SLAM technology. The new Nokia 3310 will be available in Warm Red and Yellow with a gloss finish while will also come in Dark Blue and Grey colour with a matte finish.
A reboot of one of the best-selling phones of all time, with roughly 126 million units sold, the Nokia 3310 (2017) remains in the budget range with a price tag of EUR 49 (approximately Rs. 3,500). However, the official price will be known when the feature phone is actually launched in the Indian market.
With the Nokia 3310 (2017), HMD Global also bringing back the classic Snake game. The company, however, touts that the new Snake game has been optimised for the new colour screen, and has also confirmed that the Snake game will be available to Facebook Messenger users.
