Paytm App Now Features Option to Book an Uber: Is it Worth?
Paytm has been helping India move towards digital payments in a cash-less eco-system and we’re thrilled to announce our integration with the Paytm app to offer more seamless options for our rider. It is trying to optimize its app features to make it more easy and hassle free for users. Uber has previously introduced schedule Uber feature to tackle with Ola. Also, recently it has rolled out Uber Hire to compete with Ola Rentals feature.
Uber has been on this task for a while now, after integration with Google Search and Google Maps, the cab-hailing service has made ties with Paytm. Yes, this means, that now you can use your Paytm app to book Uber. Uber, Paytm on Thursday announced a new tie-up that sees the Uber ride booking facility integrated within the Paytm app.
Paytm app users will now see Uber listed under the Book on Paytm section of the app. Tapping on it will direct users to the Uber app, with Paytm as a payment option. Users will be able to book instantly from their current location, the companies said.
But, one thing which makes the integration of no use. When you go to the home page and scroll through the ‘Now book on Paytm’ section and tap on Uber. It will take you to the Uber app that you already have on your phone, and then you can begin with your process of booking the cab. If you don't have the Uber app, it will force you to download and install it. Which makes no sense. Unlike, other booking things for movie tickets, flights, hotes and other can be booked from the e-wallet itself, which is not the case with Uber booking.
So why to go through PayTM and do the same thing, which we can directly book using the Uber app, directly using Uber app can save us a few minutes. Only the option you get is to pay through the PayTM, but is it worth it. For me, its not that worth but you can still have it if you want.
Uber earlier this week launched UberHIRE in India, allowing riders to book cabs for up to 12 hours. In order to avail this new feature, users need to open the Uber app on their mobile and slide over to the UberHIRE option. Then, they are required to set their pickup location and request the ride.
The minimum fare for UberHIRE ranges between Rs. 449 - Rs. 649 for 2 hours and up to 30km. After this point, riders will be charged Rs. 2 per minute and Rs. 12 per kilometre - pricing and cancellation charges will vary from city to city, Uber said. Further, users can hold their Uber ride up to a maximum duration of 12 hours. At the end of the trip, the total fare is calculated based on the distance and duration of the trip.
Cheers!!!
