WhatsApp New 'Status' Update: All You Need to Know
The latest Status feature is one of the most un-necessary update for WhatsApp. Don't know what was the need to copy it from SnapChat or Instagram. They should have made it more interesting. But instead what they did was to remove the option of text status. Anyways, On the occasion of its eighth birthday on February 24, popular instant messaging service WhatsApp rolled out a new ‘Status’ feature for all users. It lets users share images and videos as statues with their friends on WhatsApp, instead of just text-based statuses. Want to know
So here are the things you need to know about the new feature:
1. Seperate tab for 'Status':
Before you were having a Contacts tab between Chats and Calls, which has now been replaced by "Status". Apart from this, now you have a 4th tab which is for photos.
2. Add emojis, texts, and doodles on your status:
While earlier you could only use text in your status messages on WhatsApp, now you can do a lot more. The messaging platform now supports photos, videos and GIFs as status updates. You can either select the content saved on your phone’s gallery or click pictures and videos
3. Who can see your "Status":
We have always liked privacy settings on WhatsApp and the instant messaging platform has expanded them to the new status feature as well. You have the option of deciding who gets to see your status updates. There are three options to choose from – My contacts, My contacts except, Only.
4. Status update disappears after 24 hours:
It is worth noting that your status updates will disappear on their own after 24 hours. However, you can post as many status updates as you like.
5. Delete your Status update:
If you accidentally post a picture of someone that you were not supposed to, just relax, you can easily delete it. Just click on the ‘...’ sign right next to your status and you’ll be taken to the page where all your updates appear. Just long press the status you want to delete and tap on it.
6. Comment on people's status message:
When you see someone’s status, there will be an option of replying on it at the bottom. Just press on that and scroll up, and you’ll see a text saying 'Reply to this status".
7. Not available on WhatsApp Web:
WhatsApp’s web version still hasn’t got the status feature update. Moreover, there is no word on whether or not the web platform will get this new feature.
Cheers!!!
