Delete/Remove "Windows.old" Folder In Windows 8
Some days back we seen a post related to restoring files form windows.old folder from Windows 8. Today we will see on how to remove/deleted windows.old folder from Windows 8. The windows.old folders takes around 2 GB of space on your hard-disk. This folder can be accessible and can allow us to copy important files and folders. But after removing our files, the folder is of no use. Therefore, to get some more space, we need to delete it. But make sure you don't delete it using Shift+Del key. Sometimes, it wont get delete or sometimes it will remain on your drive but you wont be able to see it.
I assume that you have upgraded to Windows 8 and you didn't format your drives. If you did, you wont be able to recover your files. Before starting with this process, you’re sure that your files and settings are back to where you want them to be, you might want to reclaim disk space by using Disk Cleanup to delete the Windows.old folder.
Lets see how this works:

Before starting with this process, you’re sure that your files and settings are back to where you want them to be, you might want to reclaim disk space by using Disk Cleanup to delete the Windows.old folder.
Lets see how this works:
- Open Disk Cleanup by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering Disk Cleanup in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Free up disk space by deleting unnecessary files.
- If you're prompted to choose a drive, select the drive that you just installed Windows on, and then click OK.
- In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click Clean up system files.
- If you're again prompted to choose a drive, select the drive you just installed Windows on, and then click OK.
- Select the Previous Windows installation(s) check box, and any other check boxes for the files you want to delete, and then click OK.
- In the message that appears, click Delete files.
