Samsung Galaxy Camera: Review & Specification

Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy Camera in India. The mobile companies are improving their devices interms of cameras and zooming quality. Many people prefer camera as an important aspect while buying camera. .Technology has been changed so drastically that sometimes it becomes impossible to think what would be next. We have seen such drastic changes in Mobiles, Tablets, Computers, Televisions and so on. Even the kitchens appliances are in the race for providing best technology to customers. Mainly to prove their identity in the market in terms of technology. If all this things are changing then why not cameras?

The answer to this is Samsung. Yes, Samsung thought about it and created Galaxy Camera. The 16 Megapixel camera has 21x Optical Zoom Lens with BSI CMOS sensor. It packs in a 4.8-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD Super Clear Touch Display with 308 ppi and is powered by a 1.4 GHz Quad-Core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

Design and Display:
No doubt that this is the best one of the best design that Samsung has gave till now. The Galaxy camera is a slick looking device. The black and white combination looks too good compared to previous handsets. The front of the camera is clad in white, with a large 23mm lens on the right, and a small rubberized grip on the left. The back is simply a large 4.8-inch touch screen in black. It consists of a shutter button surrounded by small circular zoom ring and a power button in the middle. Galaxy Camera consists of 4.8 inch screen and 1280 x 720 HD Super Clear LCD display. I think it is much enough to watch movies, videos or YouTube.

Along with it, it has a 3.5 mm jack and a microUSB port with small cover to it. The left side has a button to activate the flash. The bottom side of the Galaxy Camera consists of battery, SIM card, microSD card and a microHDMI port.

The weight measures of around 10.8 ounces with 5.07 x 2.79 x 0.75 inches. Which means that it can easily fit in our pocket or in a small case that you can carry with you anywhere you go. Might be a problem to fit in pants :) So need to carry an extra jacket with you to keep it in it.

Camera:
In addition to a 16.3MP the Galaxy Camera features a 21X optical zoom lens, you are definitely going to shoot nice pictures. You can change the resolution and aspect ratio from 4;3 to 16:9. The camera's ISO ranges from 100 to 3200, the f-stop from 2.8 to 8.0, and shutter speeds up to 1/2000th of a second. You can also take images using voice features. You not only take photo but you can also zoom it using your voice. It allows photo sharing features, including Buddy Photo Share, Share Shot and AllShare.

The Smart Pro feature has 15 modes (Beauty face, Best photo, Continuous shot, Best face, Landscape, Macro, Action freeze, Rich tone, Panorama, Waterfall, Silhouette, Sunset, Night, Fireworks, Light trace). In Auto, the camera selects the best mode to capture images. It also has Auto+, Aperture Priority, Speed Priority, Camcorder and Manual options to control the settings manually. Unlike other camera it also has an shutter speed, and ISO sensitivity, program mode, aperture priority mode and shutter speed priority mode.

Panorama mode works well. It also supports red-eye fix option, adjusting white balance, add filter effects. Once the filter is applied the image and video resolution is down to 1920×1080 and 720p, respectively. You can also activate Geo-tagging.

Video recording supports upto 1080p Full HD resolution. Supports slow motion recording, optical zoom.

Interface
The Galaxy Camera runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with the non intrusive TouchWiz. Since it is an camera phone so whenever you turn it on it opens Camera app. The lockscreen shows time, date, weather and has Camera shortcut to open the camera quickly. To get the Android interface, you need to press the Home button. It consists of three home screen. You can add more screen up to 7 home screens.anytime you want. Pulling down from the top menu brings you notifications, as well as settings for wireless connectivity, mobile data and brightness.

It provides full access to Google Play Store.

Performance
It is equipped with 1.4-GHz quad core Exynos processor.

The camera has 8GB of storage built in, and can accept microSD cards up to 64GB in size.

Connectivity:
Galaxy Camera includes, 3G (HSPA + 21Mbps), WiFi a/b/g/n, WiFi HT40, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI 1.4 and GPS/GLONASS. It provides an data usage indicator for keeping track for internet data used. The DNLA feature lets you share the media files with other DNLA-capable devices.

Is it worth buying?
One important thing that it has less battery life. Its is huge and bulky to carry in pocket. Since its an 16MP camera the photos quality will be good. The 21X Optical zoom is one good thing to buy it. If you want to buy a camera with additional features other than only clicking photos and recording videos, then this is a good option for you. Many other camera provides functional point and shoot camera but this is something better with Android JellyBean and 3G support.

The 1650 mAh battery running on Android OS doesn't last for a day, if you are clicking photos and . You can expand the microSD card. If you want to buy camera and not interested in sharing the images with friends and family, please go for a basic camera. It will cost you half of what this is. And if you think you are a pro in photography please go for DSLR. You can buy this camera for having fun with images.

Price:
You have pay a heavy amount 29,990 INR to buy this Galaxy Camera.

Cheers!!!
