Apply For Passport Using Your Smartphone
Some months back Government of India had made an smartphone application for new Passport online. Using this the user can apply for new passport or review their passport online. Once you apply, you will get the date of appointment and you will need to be present in the Passport Seva Kendra for verification.
The Ministry of External affairs, Govt of India is taking an effort to make this process a bit simpler by making this service available on smartphones. Few months back they had released mPassport Seva App, an Android app which can track the status of your passport application and also get more details on the process.
But they have extended this service to apply for new passports using your smartphone. This facility will be available soon and applicants can submit their application from Android phone.
This is one of the largest projects of the Government of India under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) being executed in public-private-partnership mode with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as the private partner. The project is already operational and servicing citizens through 77 Passport Seva Kendras across India.
MEA with a view to provide mobile enablement of public services, has launched a Mobile Application ‘mPassport Seva’ to offer a wide variety of services to smartphone users such as Passport application status tracking, locating the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) and general information on various steps involved in obtaining a Passport.
