Bypass Windows 8 Logon Screen

Some days back i was at my friends home. He had installed Windows 8 OS. Its so good. Specially the interface and other features. There i found that my friend was very annoyed of the Metro screen (Logon screen). He just asked me that why cant the system directly load the OS instead of the Logon screen. I said it is possible in Win 7, but m not sure of that in Win 8. So i said let me have a look on your PC (i didn't installed Win 8, yet). After some exploration i found a way to bypass the logon screen completely to load the operating system directly. In addition, in our previous post we already looked on how to add the Start button in Win 8.

Actually thereis not much difference between Win 7 and Win 8, in terms of the working. It was possible to configure the User accounts.

Follow the steps below to bypass Logon screen:

1. From the Start screen, type "netplwiz". The User Accounts screen will be displayed on the Desktop.

2. In the User Accounts Control Panel, select the account you wish to use to log in automatically.

3. Click off the check-box above the account that says "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer." Click OK.

4. Enter your password once and then a second time to confirm it. Click OK.

5. Restart Windows. Windows now bypasses the lock screen and the log-in screen to automatically take you to the Start screen.

If you want your logon screen back, simply return to the User Accounts Control Panel using the steps above and click on the check-box/uncheck for the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" option.

That's it.

I hope you understand the steps. If you like the post please Like or Comment. For any queries contact me on "bookofknowledge.blog@gmail.com"

  1. Can you bypass the login screen without disabling the lock screen? That way I could encrypt my disk with TrueCrypt, making the login screen pointless, and still have the lock screen to prevent quick access to my computer (I'll shut it down if I'm leaving my computer for an extended period).
