Thumbnail Preview for RAR Image Archives

We all use zip files to compress the data. Zip files can be use for many things, like, compressing the data so that it can be send via email, gathering all the files and storing them as a zip. Anyways their are many use of using a zip file. Winrar is one of the mostly used compression tools. I am using it for my all important data. Its so easy to use. Some days back I wrote a post on enabling thumbnail preview of .pdf files using which it can directly be viewed int he windows without opening them. Same way in Windows it is not possible to view the thumbnail preview of images that are in the .zip or .rar file.

The Windows cannot show the thumbnail preview for file types like ZIP, CBZ, CBR and RAR. each time to view the files we have to open it and then view the image file. It can be very tedious job. But now it is possible to view the the preview of the image in the zip file. This can be done using a freeware, CBX Shell which enables thumbnail preview for ZIP, CBZ, CBR and RAR image archives.

How to use this application:

1. Download the CBX Shell zip file from here.

2. Extract the file and run the CBXSetup.exe

3. Install and run the application.

4. Select the file type (Preferable, select all as shown below)

That's it, Windows Explorer will display a thumbnail image of the first photo in the archive instead of the archive icon.
