Send / Receive SMS in Chrome without your android phone, using your existing android number
How many messages do you send everyday using your smartphone? Many right. But ahs this happened with you? You are in office and you need to message someone. You put you hand in your pocket and found that you forget your phone at home. Now what? This has happened many times with me. The only option then remains is to borrow someone's mobile and message. But a person like me don't like to ask for things. Yes, there are many other options available on the internet to send fre sms's. But they has their text at the end along with the message and it looks very cheap.
What you get some application using which you will send message from your browser? Or using your browser for managing your sms's without using your phone. MightyText, aptly known as Texty helps us doing this. MightyText is an Android application that will synchronize your SMSes with a Chrome browser via an extension. This allows you to use Chrome to send and receive your SMS's during emergencies like this. Messages stay in sync with your Android phone's SMS. The best part is that it uses your CURRENT existing Android Phone Number to send sms's.
Lets find out how this works;
1. First you need to download Mighty Text Android application in yout android phone. Download it here.
2. Once the installation is completed, open the application in your android mobile and complete the setup by connecting MightyText with your Google account.
3. Then install MightyText Chrome Extension on your browser. Install it from here.
4.Once installation is done, a notification will be prompted means now you can start sending and receiving message
Small icon will be added in your chrome browser. Click on that MightyText icon.
5. An account status message will be prompted to tell that you are not logged in. Click on the link to sign-in.
6. It will direct you to the page where it will ask your permission. Click on the Allow button.
7. Once the access is granted, you will see a popup appearing on the top right corner of your computer screen notifying you about how many messages have been received since you installed the Android app. Now every time when you received SMS, you will see this popup.
8. Now send and receive sms's from your chrome browser anytime you want. Just, open your Chrome browser and click on the MightyText icon to view the MightyText SMS page.
9. At the top bar contains a notice to sync all your contacts. Sync all your contact so that all the friends name will appear.
10. To compose new messages, simply click the ‘Compose New’ button.
Note: You will still be charged with the standard SMS tarrif. But this is still the nice and easy way to sms your friends using the chrome browser.
