Compose Emails From Firefox Address Bar

Sending mails is something we do everyday. Specially for employees in offices, they need to send email like in every hours. It is obvious that one person will definately have more than 2-3 email id's. This id's can be of Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Hotmail or any other services. Now, it wont be possible to open all your logins to send emails. It is also not possible to login in every service and send emails. How much time will it take?

Is there not any other way to send emails in more easy and less time consuming way? The answer to your questions is YES, there is. I came to know that now you can send your emails directly from your Firefox browser's. We have already seen some useful thigns that can be done using Firefox. Some of them were.. The actual way is to create a bookmark, click on it, write your message and send! That's it. This means that when you are in a hurry or you have the need of sending emails to a specific contact instantly, you do not have to open your email servicing client. Instead, you could compose your messages right from the address bar.

Lets see how this works:

1. Open your Firefox Browser.

2. On the Menu tab and click on Bookmark -> Show All Bookmarks.

3. The Bookmark Library window will open . Now right-click on "Bookmarks Menu" and select the option "New Bookmark". (See image below)

4. A small "New Bookmark" window will open. Enter the details in text field as mention below (you can also see the image).

  • Name: Give some name for the Bookmark for easy recognition. I have given the name "Test".
  • Location: In the location text field, enter the URl as "mailto:receivermailaddress?body=%s" (without quote). Here m using my outlook address as "chintan.jain@xxxxxxxx.com". This means that emails for this keyword will be composed for "chintan.jain@xxxxxxxx.com".
  • Keyword: Give it a Keyword that will be used as the gateway to composing emails.
  • Tags and Description: Optional

5. Press Ok and close the Library.

6. Go back to Firefox browser, Click on Bookmarks -> Recently Bookmarked and select the bookmark you just created.
In this example i have created a bookmark with name "Test".

7. As soon as you click on the bookmark (you just created, or click enter, when the bookmark link is displayed in the address bar), you will be directly taken to your default email client with the description.

Now you are ready to enter your message, if you want and just press the Send button. It's so easy to use.
