6 Ways To Find Your Lost Android Smartphone

In our previous post we have already seen on how to find lost windows phone. But that was particularly for Windows phones. My friends asked me, What about Android phones? So here it is my dear friend. Losing phone is some thing we do frequently. I lost my my RazrV3i twice :( Anyways i wont be discussing more about this, we will directly come to the main part. Yes now it has became more easy to find any lost android phone. Many applications are available on the Internet using which you can trace your phone with the proper location.

I wont be discussing any one solutions but many. So be wise and choose the one that seems perfect for you.

1. Where's My Droid:

Where's My Droid is a free utility that makes it easy to find a lost Android phone. The utility has one mode where you can use it to search for a lost phone that you know is somewhere in your home, and another mode where you can find your phone if it's been lost or stolen. The former will turn up the ringer and let it ring for a few minutes to help you find it. The latter will display the phone on a map with its current position via GPS. You can also send an SMS to the phone via email to be displayed on the phone's screen with contact information and how you can be reached.

2. Locate My Droid:

LocateMyDroid is a free Android application that you install on your phone to help locate it. The application does not run in the background and is only activated by you through our website. If you think your phone is lost or stolen simply visit www.locatemydroid.com and activate the tracking software. You will be able to visually see where your phone currently is on an interactive map and even see the street address.

This free apps was a bit limited wise. But not now. It brings tons of features you’ll be proud to find in a paid app. Interaction with the lost device can be had via SMS or internet. The app allows you to lock, wipe, erase sd card, locate, start alarm, use camera, and much more. I personally use this application since its very easy to understand and you can control your phone from the website, www.androidlost.com. I also tried some of the features and it works well. Give it a try.

4. Lost Phone:

Lost phone is yet another free app that can use pre-defined SMS to lock and locate the lost phone. One can SMS to set the volume to maximum, and then call to know the location. Plus, the app will automatically lock the phone upon SIM change detection and send an SMS to your or friend’s number, whatever you’ve set it for.

Application Features:
- Send a SMS and lock the lost phone.
- Send a SMS and locate phone.
- Send a SMS and set ringer volume to max so you can call and find phone.
- If a new SIM-card is detected, it locks the lost phone and sends SMS to your friends from the new number.

5. Anti Droid Theft:

antidroidtheft is a free app that will help you track your android phone if it has been lost or stolen. It uses your phone's built in tracking ability to allow you to locate your phone using the internet and a web browser. Once the application is installed on your phone, you may go to its official website page to track your phone. You will also receive email updates if someone changes the phone number for the phone, so if you are unable to locate the phone, you will get the phone number of the person who found / stole it.

- Spy Camera: View images taken from your phone's camera.

6. Plan B:

Plan B is the 'find my phone' app that you download AFTER you lose your phone.
Plan B is your last resort to find your missing phone.
This is the first and only 'find my phone' app that you download AFTER you've already lost your phone. Having Lookout on your phone is the best way to protect your phone and find it fast, but use Plan B if you have already lost your phone and didn't have Lookout installed.

Follow these easy steps to use Plan B:
1. Install Plan B to the phone that you are trying to find from the Android Market website: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb.
2. Plan B will start automatically and send your phone’s location to your Gmail address.
3. To locate again after 10 minutes, borrow a friend’s phone and text the word “locate” to your lost phone.

After you install it, Plan B will start locating your phone using cell towers and GPS. On some phones, Plan B can switch GPS on automatically. Your location will keep updating for 10 minutes, and you will get an email each time it is located, whether the phone is moving or standing still. You can start the process again by texting “locate” to your number from any other phone. In order to locate your phone, we send you a text via SMS, so standard message rates apply.
