Find Your Lost Windows Phone
How many of you are using Windows Phone? Though Android market has taken the cellphone industry, many people still opt for Windows phone. I don't have it yet, but will have it one day. OK this post is related to those people who are careless enough to keep their cell phone safe. many people has lost their cellphones due to many reasons. So did you get your phone back? There are many option available like, giving he IMEI number to customer care to either block the phone or trace the location. But its not that successful, yet. You can also lodge a complaint in Police. But as we all know it will take lot of time to find.
Keeping all the above things in mind, Microsoft has taken necessary precautions to keep your Windows Phone safe and secure in case you happen to lose it. A service "Find My Phone" by Microsoft helps us to do so. Using this the user can instantly lock and erase the phone in just a seconds. Also you can call your phone, so that you can find it if you have lost it somewhere under your bed or sofa. This is a free service provided by Microsoft, to keep their users data secured. You can also see your phone location by just logging into the Windows Phone official website. In this article, we will show you how to protect your Windows from theft, and prevent someone from using the phone without your permission.
So why waiting, protect your phone right now by following the steps below:
The very first requirement is that your phone should be connected to windowsphone.com. To do this, you have to just go to Settings -> find my phone and check the box which says, connect to these features faster. This will keep your phone always connected to the official website of Windows Phone.
1. Login to windowsphone.com with the same email ID which you use in your Windows Phone.
2. If you are logging in for the first time, you will be asked to enter your phone number, email address, trusted PC and security question. Once you have entered the right information, click on Save. (You can add more than one contact information).
3. Now click on My Phone then select "Find my phone".
As you have already connected your windows phone, you will see your phone as connected. Check all the information and modify it if needed.
4. It also provides various options like Ring, Lock and Erase to secure you phone.
5. Click on Ring option to make a call to your mobile phone.
Note that the ring will be a alert sound with complete vibration. You cannot stop the ring unless you switch off the phone and restart it (personal experience). So make sure you are not in office :)
6. Now click on Lock your phone, just click on Lock option and then enter the following information shown below. You can enter a message and a pin number, so that your screen will be locked.
You can unlock your phone with that pin number, and use it as usual. Check out the screen shot for more info.
7. Erase option erases the whole data. So be sure when you click on this.

what we have to do if stranger take off the sim from the windows phone
ReplyDeleteHello Hari, if a stranger removes your sim from your phone, u better call the customer care and tell them to block your sim. This way the stranger won't be able to use your sim card.
