Play PS2 Games On PC
This one is again for the game lovers. Many of us are having some sort of console to play on. It can be XBOX, PS3, PS2, Wii, PSP or DS. Now a days this are the widely used gaming console. Actually, my career started in this field only, so m very much use to it and loves to work on this console. But still there are many of us who don't have any of this great consoles. There are many reasons, either their parents don't want there kids to get very much attached to it or any other reasons. But PC is something which everyone can afford and has it in their home.
Now this post is regarding playing PS2 games on your PC. Isn't its a great idea to play PS2 games on your PC? Just follow the steps below:
Lets see how this work:
1. Download & install PCSX2 Emulator in your PC.
2. Open Pcsx2 folder and click on pspcsx2 main executable file and run it.
3. A popup will be displayed. Click on "Configure" under the "Graphics" option and choose the one which suits your PC.
4. Then click on "Configure" for PAD option and select Pad 1 tab and click on each button to configure the controls for your emulator. Once you are done with assigning all your buttons, press Apply.
5. Now click next. For the BIOS Search path give the path of the BIOS file.
Note: Contrary to the first PlayStation, the PlayStation 2 uses several BIOS files. Basically, these are the hardest to find. Because they are copyrighted material, you are only allowed to own these files if you also own a PlayStation 2.
So now you basically have two options layed out for you. You can either dump them from your PlayStation 2 yourself, or find someone else who dumped them and who put the files online. If you need my dump file, please comment to this post with your email id.
6. Click on the Finish button once you give the proper path of your BIOS file.
7. Once you BIOS file is accepted it will display a program log along with PCSX2 emulator.
6. Click on "Config -> Emulator Settings. From the pop up window select "Speed Hacks". Click on the check box "Enable Speedhacks". Click on Apply button.
Note: Speedhacks usually improves emulation speed, but can cause glitches, broken audio and false FPS readings. When having emulation problem, disable this panel first.
So now your PS2 has been configured. Now download some PS2 games.
Many websites are available from internet to download PS2 games. But the one which me and friends refer is ps3iso.com. You can also download your games from this site.
7. Download your games and extract it get the .iso file.
8. Now go back to the PS2 emulator & click on CDVD -> Iso selector and select ISO file, the one which you have downloaded as PS2 game.
9. Now click on System -> Reboot CDVD (Fast). Play the game enjoy.
That's it. Now you will be able to play PS2 games on your PC.
At first my game was lagging and the framerate was continuously dropping, then i disabled the Speed Hack option and i was able to play it properly, without lagging or framerate dropping
Note: If the emulator doesn’t work after following all the above steps, then make sure your drivers are all up to date. You may need an upgraded graphics card as well.
Also remember its your PC not the console which will give you real look or same playing experience that you get on your console :)
Cheers!!!
