Sony Xperia Z Mobile's "Sudden Death" Issue Gets An Update
The Xperia Z was launched with so much keeping in mind. Many people just loved this phone, including me. It’s the company’s first wholehearted attempt to recapture market share from the likes of Apple and Samsung and in some markets its actually doing very well. Everything was going fine, until a report was posted on the Xperia Blog that has put a negativity in many of our minds. Users are complaining that the device randomly switches off and refuses to restart. While some users claimed that their phones bricked for no apparent reason, others said that it was difficult to revive the phone once it gets switched off even when it is fully charged.
According to some complaints users say that the battery was low, but it is also affecting devices that have a lot of juice on tap. Sony Mobile says that it is aware of the issue and is working on a software fix for the devices that are affected by the issue.
But as mentioned on the Xperia Blog, the team is working on this and the phone will be updated with new updates. Taking all the issues into consideration, Sony has acknowledged the issue and promised that a fix is in the works. It will be delivered to the users via an upcoming software update.
Later, Sony has rolled out an update to address the 'sudden death' issue of its high end smartphone, Xperia Z, following complaints from users.
The update is available via the PC sync software or over the air (OTA version). This is the first update for Xperia Z since its launch in February. Since the sole purpose of releasing the new update is to fix the 'sudden death' issue, the update does not add new features to the current version. Its build number is 10.1.A.1.434, the Android version stays 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and the Kernel seems to be the same - 3.4.0.
Even though there is no official change log for this unexpected update, rumors have it the new release addresses the sudden-death issue plaguing random Xperia Z (C6603) units. So, while it doesn't add any extra functionality, the update might save quite a lot of trouble for many Xperia Z owners out there.
Sony is releasing the update in stages both via the PC Companion app and over-the-air. You should check both for the update and if it isn't available for you already, it should pop up in a few days.
But for those who are not willing to wait till the update pops up, you can follow the source link to download the update and can flash your phone manually. But it will void the warranty.
